Development has progressed rapidly in 2021. Our Construction Village to house 10,000 workers is complete. Our international airport on track to open by end of 2022. Enabling infrastructure - such as roads, jetties and bridges - are well underway. Our Coastal Village, to house 14,000 staff operating the destination, is on course for completion later in the year.
Construction Progress at Ummahat Islands
Work is well underway with the two resorts on Ummahat Islands. To date, more than 85 off-site manufactured beach & overwater villas have been fabricated and assembled on site. Combined these resorts will offer 172 hotel keys.

Desert Rock Revealed
We're proud to reveal renders of our 'Desert Rock' mountain resort, designed by Oppenheim Architecture. The 60-key hotel is being built into the beautiful wadi vistas of The Red Sea Project on the west coast of Saudi Arabia.

Community center contract awarded to Saudi JV
We're pleased to have awarded a contract for the finalizing the designs of The Red Sea Project's Coastal Village community center to Saudi companies Talal Kurdi Consultants (TKC) and Focal Building Solutions.

Coastal Village FM contract
We're pleased to have awarded a contract to El Seif Group for facilities management services at The Red Sea's Coastal Village, which will be home to the 14,000 employees who will work at the destination.

Airport progress

SHURA bridge contract
We appointed Archirodon to design and build a 1.2km iconic bridge as part of the 3.3km crossing to our main hub island SHURA at The Red Sea.

CCE wins infrastructure contract
We're pleased to award a contract to Saudi firm Contracting & Construction Enterprises Ltd (CCE) for the design and build of infrastructure at The Red Sea's Coastal Village, which will be home to 14,000 people who will work at the destination.

Hotel Construction Contracts
We're pleased to be moving into an exciting new phase of our development on The Red Sea Project with the award of our first hotel build contracts to Saudi company AlBawani and Swiss firm Blumer Lehmann.

Airport Operator Contract
We awarded a contract to daa International as operator of The Red Sea Project’s unique and iconic airport. daa International will provide airfield and terminal operations, aviation services, facilities management and commercial activities, as well as corporate and financial services.

2020 was a huge year of progress for us. We made great strides towards completing our enabling infrastructure and by end of year had awarded more than 500 contracts worth nearly SAR 15 billion ($4bn).

Construction Village FM Contract
We awarded contracts to Saudi firms Red Sea International and Facilities Management Company (FMCO) to provide all maintenance, security, catering, administrative and laundry services at The Red Sea Project’s Construction Village.

Sustainable transport consultancy
We awarded a contract to global engineering firm Mott MacDonald to provide consultancy services to determine the optimal sustainable vehicle and fleet configuration at the destination.

Coastal Village Employee Accommodation Contract
We awarded one of our largest value contracts to date to Saudi firm AlKifah Contracting Company for the engineering, procurement and construction of an additional 40 apartment buildings at The Sea Project’s Coastal Village community.

Largest battery storage facility
We announced that we will create the world’s largest battery storage facility to enable the entire site at The Red Sea to be powered by renewable energy 24 hours a day.

The highest-value contract to date
We secured multinational investment in our first public-private partnership for a utilities package focused exclusively on environmentally responsible renewable energy, water production, wastewater treatment and district cooling.

1st km of road
With our Saudi partner Binyah, we recently completed the first kilometre of an 80km inland road network at The Red Sea Project site.

Coastal Village
Captured by one of our new time-lapse cameras, foundation work is being carried out at our Coastal Village Management Office by Al Majal Al Arabi Group. Once completed later in 2020, the offices will accommodate up to 500 staff.

Green Concrete
Ever wondered what the difference is between ordinary and green concrete? Check out this video as we celebrate the pouring of the first batch of green concrete produced by Al Falah to meet existing and upcoming project demand while adhering to our sustainability goals.

Airside contract award
We awarded our biggest contract to date to an all-Saudi joint venture between Nesma & Partners and Almabani for airside infrastructure works for the destination’s international airport, set to open in 2022.
The contract was awarded to support the creation of a sustainable gateway which will open up Saudi Arabia to the world.

First delivery of prefab units
Watch as we take delivery of the first prefabricated units for our 14,000-person Coastal Village. Using Off-Site Manufacturing to minimize the environmental impact of construction, the units were built in a new factory in Rabigh.

Medical Services
We awarded a medical services contract to International SOS – Al Rushaid to provide all medical services across the development during the initial construction phase of the project. The agreement ensures that the highest quality medical care and assistance is provided to the site’s estimated 28,000 construction workers as well as the project’s staff and visitors over the next two and a half years.

Waste Management Contract
We awarded a three-year solid waste management contract to a joint venture between leading waste management company Averda and the Saudi Naval Support Company (SNS). The partnership involves collecting and recycling waste generated by administration offices, residential facilities, and construction activities, meeting the high environmental standards set for the project and with the goal of ‘zero waste to landfill’.

Overwater Assets
We carried out a three-week activity to identify the location of overwater assets - including villas, restaurants & hotel arrival points - around four key islands at The Red Sea Project in accordance with our approved Master Plan.


Round Up
Major contracts were awarded in 2019 in our journey to meeting our targeted phase 1 completion date of 2022. In the space of one week, we awarded four contracts collectively worth SAR 1 billion ($266M) to Archirodon (enabling marine infrastructure), Saudi Group Al Majal Al Arabi (5,000 units of Construction Village), an ARCCO-Speed House joint venture (another 5,000 units of Construction Village) and Saudi Amana Contracting (management hotel).
This was soon followed by contract awards for the development of Coastal Village residential area to Al Majal Al Arabi, Coastal Village ground-work improvement to HUTA Hegerfeld and Saudi Consulting Services (Saudconsult), the design for the destination’s international airport to Foster + Partners, the construction of the coastal and inland connecting road links at the destination to leading Saudi Arabian contractor Binyah and the supply of structural low-carbon concrete to AlFalah Ready Mix.
